Job Title: VASCULAR TECHNICIAN
Clinic Hours: M - F 8 - 5 or until finished with patients
Job Summary:
SUMMARY of POSITION Under general supervision of Physician the Technician is to perform Vascular studies as ordered per physician. Pleasant, courteous disposition with the ability to work with patients as well as employees and physicians. Professional in conduct and appearance.

Duties:
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Confirms correct diagnosis for study ordered. 2. Performs vascular studies as ordered per physician. 3. Completes procedure log books daily 4. Distributes report to reading physician for interpretation. 5. Sends final report to medical records for patient electronic medical record. 6. Obtains and records patient brief history, allergies and current medications prior to scheduled tests. 7. Prepares and instructs patient for each procedure answering any questions they may have . 8. Performs quality assurance weekly. Maintains quality assurance requirements for Vascular lab accreditation. 9. Perform the ultrasound ensuring the transducer (probe) is capturing images of every angle/section that must be assessed. 10. Evaluate the images for their quality, but also to interpret what was captured in the image. 11. Present images and preliminary findings to physicians and the healthcare team. 12. Maintain patient records and add medical notes related to the ultrasound procedure. 13. Maintains accreditation status. 14. Cleans equipment/probes in between each patient. 15. Maintains and orders supplies for department. 16. Assists in performing quality assurance testing on the ultrasound unit using phantoms, test tools, tech check lists, etc. for the purpose of assuring peak performance of the ultrasound equipment”. 17. Answers telephone identifying self and department, records all messages and requests for procedures/tests. 18. Maintains a clean and sanitary work area. 19. Disposes of biohazardous waste according to OSHA standards. 20. Uses universal precautions and personal protective equipment during all patient procedures and treatments. 21. Follows security guidelines with use of the patient electronic medical record. 22. Keeps work station neat and clean. 23. Completes mandatory OSHA/Fire Safety Training annually. ATTENDANCE REQUIREMENTS 1. Position is fulltime. 2. Staff is expected to be in department no later than 5 minutes before scheduled start time. 3. Lunch and breaks are work permitted and depend on patient schedule. 4. Time off is approved through the Nursing Department Staffing office. 5. Attendance policy #3.08 is followed regarding unscheduled absences. GENERAL DUTIES 1. Works under minimal supervision adhering to clinic policies and procedures. 2. Assists with training and development of new staff. 3. Reviews Policy/Procedure manual annually. 4. Reviews Safety & Regulatory manual annually. 5. Cell phones are not to be in use during patient care. 6. Attend clinic and departmental meetings as scheduled. 7. Keeps in confidence all matters concerning clinic, patient and employee information. 8. Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned by Director of Nursing/Assistant Director of Nursing.

Qualifications:
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS 1. Current registration as Registered Vascular Technologist with American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS). 2. Computer knowledge. 3. Good interpersonal skills. 4. Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) training.
