What is Ophthalmology?

Ophthalmology is the study of the structure and function of the eye. Ophthalmologists diagnose eye conditions and diseases and treat patients who have them by prescribing medications or performing surgical procedures. They also perform refractions, prescribe corrective lenses and perform other tests to help maintain good vision.
